Combining traditional textbooks and digital content. 3D models support Thai students' learning
How can 3D models support learning and interactivity in education? In Thailand, thanks to our partnership with Aksorn, they are part of textbooks. The student just scans a QR code and gets access to high-quality 3D content.
About Aksorn
Aksorn is a major player in Thai education. It has an 80 years history and has long been committed to the transformation and innovation of Thai education. It promotes the development of curiosity, analytical thinking and building an atmosphere where students interact with each other and with teachers to get the most out of the classroom. They describe themselves as developing today's children not to be users of innovation but creators of innovation. And our 3D models have been helping them to do just that since 2018.
Aksorn creates educational content, educational platform and trains more than 70,000 teachers across Thailand every year.
Our 3D models support textbook interactivity
How does the integration of printed textbooks and digital models work from the user's perspective? Thanks to QR codes. These are included in the textbook and give the learner instant access to interactive content in the form of a 3D model, including features such as an augmented reality view of the model.
Students don't need any special devices, just a smartphone or tablet and any of the standard browsers. The learner can access the models that come standard in our paid library without having to log in, thanks to the license provided directly by the publisher and our collaboration on easy integration. "Corinth's large amount of 3D content can be linked to the national science curriculum and the QR code makes it really easy to use in the classroom," appreciates the partner.
Technical solutions and integration options
This example uses the JWT token standard, which is the most common way to integrate our content into 3rd party solutions. The standard we used is JWT Token, which is JSON Web Token is an open industry standard used to share information between two entities.
When the learner retrieves the QR code, it creates a temporary access to the specific model they want to explore. They don't have to log in or register anywhere and there is no need of getting into the main menu of the application.
In addition to this way of linking textbooks to digital content, our content can also be integrated directly into VR and AR-enabled devices and applications and other third-party applications. In addition to JWT (Jason Web Token), we also support OAUTH2 or LTI.
