Engage

Start the lesson by engaging the class in a discussion about the different organs of the human body. Ask the students to think about what they might find inside the body, such as the heart, lungs, intestines, etc. Discuss key organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. Then, ask the class to consider how the organs interact to maintain homeostasis. Encourage students to think of the human body as a complex machine and explain why a 3D model can help visualize its complexity.

Explore

Introduce the concept of anatomy and how each organ consists of different parts and structures. Ask the class to consider how these parts work together and the role they play in organ function. The teacher may use the 3D model of the human body to illustrate the various organs—such as the heart, lungs, and spleen—and discuss how they are interconnected and interact. Then, have students identify the different parts of the model and how they fit together.

Explain

Ask students to consider how various organs work together to maintain homeostasis and how removing one organ might affect the rest of the body. Discuss the concept of homeostasis and how it helps the body maintain a healthy state.

Elaborate

Ask students to create a PowerPoint presentation or a poster in Canva explaining how an organ can be affected by disease or injury. The material should include information about how different parts of the organ adapt to illness or trauma and how the organ recovers and returns to normal function. Presentations should also include images and explanations of the roles of organ parts in maintaining homeostasis.

The teacher may provide a discussion activity to help students understand homeostasis and how it maintains the body's healthy state. Encourage questions and provide opportunities for practice and discussion about organ function and interdependence.

Reflect

Ask students to consider how 3D models can be used to educate the public about the importance of health and wellness. The teacher can also assign a quiz to assess student understanding of the concepts discussed in the lesson, for example:
